GNU-MingW32 ATP Release Oct-2004 is a 32-bit Windows build of the EMTP-ATP (Alternative Transients Program) simulation engine, compiled with the GNU/MinGW toolchain. ATP is a widely used time-domain solver for electromagnetic transients in electric power systems and power electronics. This release provides a native Windows console executable aimed at improved performance and memory handling compared with legacy DOS versions, and is suitable for Windows 98/Me/NT/2000/XP-era systems.

Key capabilities:

  • Simulation of switching transients, lightning surges, faults, and nonlinear effects in single- and multi-phase networks.
  • Component and model support for frequency-dependent transmission lines and cables, transformers, rotating machines, surge arresters, and power-electronic converters.
  • TACS and the MODELS language for user-defined controls and devices.
  • Standard ATP input and output formats (netlist input; LIS and PL4 output), interoperable with common ATP front ends and plotting tools.

Typical users include utility engineers, consultants, researchers, and educators conducting transient studies, insulation coordination, protection analysis, and HVDC/FACTS development.

Distribution and licensing:
This package is provided by the EMTP-ATP Programs group. It is generally available at no charge to registered users under the ATP license; redistribution and commercial use may be restricted. “GNU-MingW32” refers to the compiler toolchain used and does not imply that ATP is distributed under a GNU license. Graphical interfaces such as ATPDraw are not included and are obtained separately.

GNU-MingW32 ATP Release Oct-2004 is developed by EMTP-ATP Programs 2004. The most popular version of this product among our users is 4.1.
